Boarding at Hatherop Castle School

The boarding house is located in the main building and children from the age of seven are welcomed as boarders on a full or weekly basis.

The children sleep in bedrooms accommodating

3 to 6 children. There are four residential members of staff and two gap year students.

Matron and the headmaster's wife are responsible for the pastoral care and the health of the children and one or the other of them is on call throughout every day and night.

Activities

There is a range of evening activities and a complete programme of weekend events.

The children are given time to play and in the evenings make full use of the facilities. In the summer tern, they can swim every evening and there are regular barbecues.

Our Home from Home ethos

At Hatherop we try to project a home from home environment.  We feel that it is important for the children to recognise a difference between School and coming "home" for the evenings.

They are encouraged to bring personal belongings from home to encourage the "home from home" ethos that exists.

Children can also board on a flexible basis, doing a couple of nights a week on a regular basis or at random as they choose.
